Ceramic/Porcelain Bowl with Duck Figure - Pottery mark of triangle with letters N P 3 on outside Hand Painted Italy:- I need help identifying this piece. Its a small bowl, porcelain/ceramic, shaped like a leaf, creamy/white. The bowl edges are trimmed in gold leaf and handpainted outlines of gold leaf. There is a figural branch with flower and leaf, and a figural duck on the upper edge of bowl. It measures 7.25" L x 5.75" W x 4.25 H(to top of duck) 1.75"H (bowl height).
The marking on the bottom is a straight edge triangle with letters/number on the outside sides of triangle. starting from the left the letter "N", right side the number "3", bottom the letter "P". Under the triangle is hand painted with "Hand Painted Italy".
I would appreciate any and all information and comments!
Thanks so very much.
Maureen

Ceramic/Porcelain Bowl with Duck Figure - Pottery mark of triangle with letters N P 3 on outside Hand Painted Italy
Hi Maureen
I can't be of too much help on this one, I am afraid. I looked up this triangle mark from Italy and it is not listed
in my Kovel's encyclopaedia.
What does the absence of a listing in Kovels mean? It means that the maker is either too modern, or too small or the mark too obscure to be listed. So the mark is not from what the experts would describe as an 'important' maker, so this piece is a lovely decorative piece and must be loved for that reason alone.
That said, one of the beautiful things about this website is we like to solve pottery mark mysteries. We want to know who created our pieces, even if they are not regarded as 'important' by snooty experts. That's what the experts miss and don't understand - sentimental value.
Time and again we have solved mystery marks from obscure and not well known makers. Let's hope someone comes along who knows who this maker is.
If you do know, please take the time and trouble to post via the comments link below. Thanks in advance.
Also, if you have a piece with this mark let us know what you have - it all adds to the knowledge base.
