Clover and Crown Pottery Mark Query - White Eagle with Gold Beak and Talons
Clover and Crown Pottery Mark Query - White Eagle with Gold Beak and Talons:- I have a beautiful figurine of an eagle. The bird is solid white with only a gold beak and is in a high gloss glaze. The maker's mark is a clover with a crown. I can not find this mark anywhere. Do you have any idea who the maker could be? I have attached pictures of the bird.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this one.
Regards
Belinda

Hi Belinda
Thanks for photo of your beautiful white eagle figure with clover mark.
You didn't show us the mark, unfortunately. Now, this is where submitters must try to upload two merged pics if they want to get the best out of this public forum.
The clover mark is quite common, but I have not seen one specifically including a crown.
Makers who use a 3 leaf clover pottery mark are:-
Gotthelf Greiner of Limbach, Thuringia, Germany
Gossbreitenbach of Thuringia, Germany
Llmenau of Thuringia, Germany
Annaburg Earthenware Factory of Annaburg, Prussia.
Limbach Porcelain Factory of Limbach, Thuringia,
Germany
Brux Porcelain Factory of Brux, Bohemia (now Czech...)
A Bourne Claverdon of London, England.
Arklow Pottery Ltd of Arklow, Co Wicklow, Ire
Those factories using a four leaf clover design include:-
Ley & Weidermann of Haldensleben, Prussia
Merkelsgrun Porcelain of Merkelsgrun, Bohemia
Mayer China of Beaver Falls, PA, USA
Chelsea Keramic Art Works of Chelsea, MA, USA
Sebastian Schmidt / Eberhard Suhr, Schmiedefeld & Rudolstadt of Thuringia, Germany
Rose Valley Pottery of PA, USA
John Maddock & Sons, Trenton NJ, USA
Cook Pottery Co, Trenton, NJ, USA
Wade (Ultser) Ltd of Portadown, N Ireland
Robert Stewart Ceramics of Paisley, Scotland
Karlsbader of Merkelsgrun, Bohemia
So you can see why a photo including the mark is desirable! It may help to narrow it down somewhat.
From the list above it seems likely your white eagle figurine sculpture is Germanic European (Thuringia or Bohemia region). The US firms would perhaps less likely to incorporate a crown into their devices.
Feel free to await answers from knowledgeable others who may come across your submission in this thread, but if you would like an experts eye, go to my page here ....
