POTTERY MARK - 6 Pointed Star China Ware with CSC

POTTERY MARK QUERY - 6 Pointed Star China Ware with CSC:- I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL 10" X 9 1/2" GOLD TRIMED PLATE WITH SMALL PINK ROSEBUDS AND OTHER LIGHT PASTEL FLOWERS. WHAT I CAN MAKE OUT OF THE POTTERY MARK, IN LIGHT GREEN, LOOKS TO BE 6 POINTED STAR WITH THE LETTERS CSC WITH THE WORD ENGLAND NUMBER THE LETTERS. THE PATTERN HAS THE FIRST WORK OF ROSE FOLLOWED BY 2 WORDS THAT I CAN NOT MAKE OUT.

I WOULD APPRECIATE HELP IN IDENTIFYING THE POTTERY MARK.

Dear M Beamer

Thanks for your interesting query about your pottery mark with a 6 pointed star and CSC.

Wow! I am delighted to say you have something rare and historically special.

The 'CSC' is, in fact, SSC - the initials of the Star China Company. Before the company was renamed Paragon in 1919, winning Royal Warrants and many awards for quality, Herbert Aynsley (son of famous potter John Aynsley) originally named his firm The Star China Company. Click the links to read the full entries for Paragon and Aynsley in the China Makers Guide section of this website.

Teacup and saucer
by: Alison Alexander

I have a small teacup and saucer (teacup 7.5cm diameter and saucer 12cm diameter). Markings on both are 6 pointed green star and below "SSC England The Paragon China". Handwritten in red is "2867 E". The pattern is white china with gold trim decorated with small pink rosebuds. Would you be able to enlighten me on its past please. Thank you
