Thanks for your interesting submission.
The set is particularly attractive looking, and there is no reason to disbelieve your family's anecdotal history - although I am unable to verify this as Japanese/Chinese is out of my comfort zone.
I will keep this post here and you are welcome to see if anyone else has any info.
Failing that, you could do more of your own research at specialist website Gotheborg.com - Chinese & Japanese and Far East porcelain marks - export marks are normally in English, often with English sounding patterns and brand names. So this one was not meant for export, clearly.
Either go to Gotheborg.com or alternatively contact Whats-it-worth, if you require a quicker answer for only a few dollars. It has a 100% positive feedback from our visitors.
They have to make a small charge as it’s their job, whilst I do all this for free because it helps with the knowledge base of this site which is my love and joy not my profession! But sorry, I take a little longer and don’t have all the answers.
I have published a page especially to help visitors help themselves which contains all the searching, valuation and identification tips, links and websites etc called Value of Antiques & Vintage China - Identification Help Page
Please enjoy all the free resources of this site and welcome!
