Swinnertons Royal Wessex China Ware - Antique Bone China Query
Swinnertons Royal Wessex China Ware - Antique Bone China Query - ..continued from previous entry on Crown Lynn:- Donna Bird continues.... I wonder this is the wedding gift to Masie as it seems the odd one out the back stamp says Royal Wessex 'white ironstone' made in England by Swinnertons. It had a sort of jenny like lamp and two gold //. If there is no such pottery company, it will be a piece of Crown Lynn scull duggery as it’s the weirdest name. I will send another email with some pages of the book.
ok chow for now
Donna.

Hi Donna
Thanks again for the historical information and all the fascinating background.
Now you have given me the name Swinnertons China Ware, I can confirm that this set might well be the odd one out because my books tell me Royal Wessex was indeed a brand name of Swinnertons China Ware.
Swinnertons of Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, was a company which traded in mainly earthenwares from 1906 to 1970. Apart from Swinnertons, their trade names were Hampton, Vitrion, and Royal Wessex.
